  • Rocket League
  • Fortnite

Why Is Riot Bringing LoL and TFT to the EWC?

According to Riot, the decision is driven by a desire to provide economic opportunities and more brand exposure for esports teams and players, particularly in light of the recent “economic challenges” faced by many organizations within the industry.

The EWC offers a lucrative prize pool, which Riot stated can “enhance financial stability” across the esports ecosystem.

They see international third-party events like the Esports World Cup playing a bigger role in the esports ecosystem for their games, similar to the earlier days of League of Legends history.

This aligns with Riot Games’ broader strategy of allowing for additional high-impact tournaments to complement the existing esports calendar.

Riot Games’ participation is also part of a larger initiative to enhance the gaming experience for players in the MENA region.

Along with the localization of League of Legends into Arabic and the upcoming launch of local servers in the Middle East, the EWC represents a significant step forward for the region’s gaming community.

Further tournament format and the prize pool will be revealed soon on the official Esports World Cup X channel.
