Announced in October 2023, the Esports World Cup is set to be an annual multi-title esports event hosted in Saudi Arabia.

Various esports titles, including Starcraft 2, Counter-Strike 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, have already announced to host competitions during this event.

Now, Level Infinite has also decided to join this mega event with the $3 million Honor of Kings tournament.

What is the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason?

Video game developer Level Infinite has announced that the mobile MOBA title Honor of Kings will host a $3 million tournament called the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason at the Esports World Cup.

This tournament will feature 12 teams competing for a share of the prize pool and an opportunity to qualify for the International Championship later in the year.

What’s in it for Honor of Kings players?

Alongside the tournament, the Esports World Cup and Honor of Kings will collaborate to launch an exclusive in-game skin that players can obtain.

This is an exciting opportunity for fans of the game to celebrate the event and show their support for their favorite teams.

Who are the confirmed participants?

Level Infinite has announced that a Chinese Honor of Kings roster called KPL Dream Team will be the first invited team to the Invitational Midseason.

This roster is said to consist of top players from China’s King Pro League, Honor of Kings’ franchised tier-one competition.

Further participating teams have yet to be revealed, but the winner of the Invitational Midseason will qualify for the Invitational Championship.

What’s the strategy behind this move?

Joining the Esports World Cup aligns with Level Infinite’s and Tencent’s goal of bolstering Honor of King’s esports ecosystem in 2024.

In January 2024, Tencent revealed a plan to expand the Honor of Kings as International esports.

The developer plans to invest $15 million in MOBA to expand its reach globally, given the game’s immense popularity in China.
