The primary driver behind Konami’s stellar performance was its Digital Entertainment business. This segment, which encompasses video games and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game showed remarkable growth of 33.4% year-on-year.

1) eFootball 2024

eFootball 2024, the latest iteration of Konami’s popular football simulation game, was a significant driver of the company’s digital sales growth in Q1, 2025. The game’s success was maintained by ongoing in-game additions and an esports tournament, attracting a growing player base and driving digital sales.

2) Yu-Gi-Oh! 25th Anniversary

The popular Japanese manga series Yu-Gi-Oh! celebrated its 25th anniversary, leading to massive merchandise sales related to the franchise. This further boosted digital revenue.

3) Japan-Exclusive Releases

Konami’s recent releases in Japan-only games (for now) also performed well during this period. These titles included:

  • ORE’N
  • The Perfect Island for Grinding
  • Powerful Pros Baseball 2024-2025: Despite initial bugs, this game became a top seller in Japan.
