Xbox Game Pass September 2024: What’s Coming and Going?

Microsoft has unveiled the lineup of games hitting Xbox Game Pass in September 2024.

Age of Mythology: Retold: September 4

Age of Mythology: Retold, developed by World’s Edge and Forgotten Empires, launched on September 4, and is available on Game Pass from day one.

This real-time strategy game builds on its predecessor Age of Empires but adds a twist by introducing mythologies from around the world.

Players will get the chance to not only conquer other nations but also face off against mythical creatures from Greek, Egyptian, Norse, and Atlantean mythology.

The game currently has “generally favorable” reviews, with a Metacritic score of 84 for PC and an 85% rating on OpenCritic. On Steam, it holds a 90% “very positive” score with over 5000 reviews, most describing it as a “perfect remaster.”

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game: September 5

Developed by Saber Interactive, A MudRunner Game offers players a mix of simulation features like camp and crew management alongside its signature off-road exploration.

Similar to previous games in the series, you can drive rough terrain, from mountains to valleys, in various vehicles.

The game is more focused on the exploration part which leads you to scientific expeditions to three distinct environments set in Little Colorado, Arizona, and the Carpathian Mountains in Central Europe.

The game has garnered “generally favorable” reviews with a score of 78 on Metacritic. However, it has received “mixed” reactions on Steam, holding a 53% rating based on more than 1700 reviews.

Riders Republic: September 11

Ubisoft also brings their sports multiplayer Riders Republic to the Game Pass lineup.

This extreme sports game first arrived in 2021 and has since gained a solid fanbase. It offers a wide range of activities, including mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, and gliding.

Players can explore a massive open world either solo or in multiplayer up to 64-player mode. Players can also play a 6v6 co-op mode named “Tricks Battle Arena“.

Despite some server issues at launch, Riders Republic impressed many with its chaotic, arcade-like gameplay.

Riders Republic garnered “generally favorable” reviews, achieving a score of 78 for PC gameplay on Metacritic. On Steam, it has a “Very Positive” rating with 84% from 14,260 reviews overall.

The game also got nominations for several awards including the Best Sports/Racing Game at The Game Awards 2021.

Train Sim World 5: September 17

First revealed at Gamescom 2024, Train Sim World 5 is an upcoming single-player simulation game that allows players to operate trains along iconic routes in three new locations.

Developed by Dovetail Games, known for various railway simulator games such as City Transport Simulator: Tram, Train Sim World 4, Great British Railway Journeys, and Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition.

Like other simulation games, this game offers full customization of your train, and a Photo Mode to capture moments within the game.

It also introduces a Route Hopping feature, which enables players to fast-travel to any station, train, or different train routes, allowing them to instantly engage with all the ongoing action.

Train Sim World 5 will launch on September 17, 2024, on several platforms, including PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC as well as Game Pass on day one.
