Prime Video’s Secret Level to Feature Concord, Even After Game’s Early Cancellation

Concord, the ill-fated live service shooter from Firewalk Studio, may still get its moment in the spotlight.

Despite the game’s abrupt closure just two weeks after its release, reports suggest that Concord’s episode in Prime Video’s upcoming animated series “Secret Level” is still on track.

Amazon Prime Video recently announced “Secret Level,” an animated adult anthology series that promises to celebrate video game culture in a unique way. Created by the mastermind behind Netflix’s acclaimed “Love, Death & Robots,” this series aims to explore 15 different games, dedicating one episode to each.

The lineup includes beloved classics like Armoured Core, God of Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, and Warhammer 40,000, as well as newer titles such as The Outer Worlds and Sifu, and of course, Concord.

According to IGN, a source close to the production has confirmed that Concord’s episode will “almost definitely” still be part of the anthology. This decision comes as a surprise to many, considering the game’s “disastrous” performance.

Talking about performance, released on August 25, the game peaked at only 697 players and quickly dropped to around 90 players on Steam. According to IGN, the game is able to sell just 25,000 copies, with 15,000 on PS5 and the rest on Steam despite a huge budget of $150 million, and 8 years in development with a team of more than 100 people.

Hence Firewalk Studio and PlayStation decided to take the servers offline on September 6 with a refund.

Many attribute its poor performance to its over-DEI approach in character design and hefty $40 price in the bloated hero shooter market, despite getting good reviews for its gameplay.

Nevertheless, Secret Level is still on track to release on December 10, and fans are hopeful it will follow in the footsteps of other successful video game adaptations on Prime Video, such as the Fallout series.

So those who are not able to get their hands on this game, due to Sony’s no-preservation efforts to save it, will at least get to know the story behind it, in the upcoming series.

Meanwhile, just a friendly reminder, Arcane, based on League of Legends lore, is set to return with its second season on Netflix this November.
