Alpha7 Esports Winner of PUBG Mobile Esports World Cup

In a stunning display of skill and strategy, Brazilian powerhouse Alpha7 Esports claimed victory at the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024 on Sunday, July 28th, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The team outperformed 28 other elite teams from around the globe and secured its first international title in the PUBG MOBILE scene.

With a total of 153 points, Alpha7 outpaced their closest rivals, REJECT and Tianba, by nearly 30 points, ending the event with 71 placement points and 82 kill points.

On the final day, Alpha7 Esports secured exceptional placements in key rounds. They secured 15 placement points in Round 15, followed by 16 in Round 16, and 13 in Round 18. This consistent high-level performance ensured their spot at the top of the leaderboard.

With this, the champions took home an impressive $467,312 in prize money from a 3 million prize pool, along with 1,000 Esports World Cup club points. Here are the other winners:

  • REJECT — $259,312.50, 600 points

Alpha7 also secured a qualifying spot at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2024 which is set for London at year’s end.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Alpha7 Esports, as it’s their first international trophy since the division’s establishment in 2020.

Two Alpha7 Esports players, Mafioso and Revo, were honored with the titles of Gunslinger and Grenade Master, respectively for most eliminations.

However, the coveted MVP award went to REJECT’s Reiji “ReijiOCO” Maeda of Japan, who received a $50,000 bonus for his outstanding performance.

Another notable mention goes to Boom Esports’ FrenTzy, who secured the Field Medic title for an impressive 14 rescues during the tournament.

In the end, the host announced the Dream Squad (The top 4 players of the tournament), which included Reiji from REJECT, Qzz from Tianba, Mafioso, and Revo both from Alpha7 Esports.

Interestingly, some of the previous PUBG Mobile champions struggled to perform well in this year’s World Cup. Thailand’s Vampire Esports, the back-to-back champions of the 2022 and 2023 PUBG MOBILE World Invitational (PMWI), could only manage a 7th-place finish. Similarly, IHC Esports, the 2023 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) winners, fell to 11th place despite their collaboration with Al-Ula FC.

In terms of viewership, the tournament did exceptionally well. According to Esports Charts, the event recorded 8.95 million hours watched and an average of 205,200 viewers over 44 hours of airtime. These impressive numbers make it the most popular PUBG Mobile event of 2024 and the fourth most popular since 2023. It peak at 566,118 on day 1 of the finale.

What’s next for PUBG Mobile esports?

As the dust settles on the World Cup, fans are already looking forward to the next big event. The 2024 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) is set to take place at the ExCel Auditorium in London, England, later this year. With a whopping $3 million prize pool, it promises to be another thrilling spectacle for PUBG Mobile enthusiasts.

Additionally, Level Infinite has announced a new circuit based on PUBG MOBILE’s Metro Royal game mode. This new competition, titled Metro Royale Esports, will introduce a fresh PvPvE format to the competitive scene.
