Bandai Namco recently announced the Tekken World Tour 2024, built on the foundation of the flagship fighting sequel Tekken 8.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika, Tekken 8 launched on January 26, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
Alongside the new game, developers announced major changes for the 2024 circuit to ignite regional scenes.
Major Dates Announced
The Tour is set to feature 2 Master+ Events, 10 Master Events, and 14 Challenger Events, showcasing top talent from around the globe.
- March 2024: Dojo event submissions open
- April 13, 2024: Tekken World Tour 2024 season begins.
- April 27-29, 2024: First Master+ Event – Evo Japan
- July 19-21, 2024: Second Master+ Event – USA
- TBA – Master
- TBA – Challenger
- TBA: Tekken World Tour Finals
No More Online Tournaments
In a bold move, all official Tekken World Tour 2024 events will be offline only.
There will be no online tournaments or qualifiers this year.
This returns the competition to its roots with live crowd energy and in-person camaraderie.
Introducing Local Dojo Events
With top esports play often requiring big sponsorships, Tekken wants to support rising talent.
New Dojo events are being added that any tournament organizer can submit to host locally.
Players can earn extra points by competing in Dojos to climb in both regional and global leaderboards.
Dual Qualification Formats – Global vs Regional
Past Tekken World Tours only had one route to the global finals – the overall Global leaderboard.
Top players from the Global leaderboard (combined from Master +, Master, Challenger, and Dojo events) used to qualify for the finals.
But now, a second path is added for regional warriors.
The #1 player from each region’s Dojo events will also qualify for the finals.
First 2024 Events – Evo Japan Kicked Off Tour
The Tekken World Tour 2024 will rev up the action quickly with Evo Japan announced as the first Masters+ event.
This prestigious Tokyo fighting game festival takes place April 27-29 at Ariake Gym-EX.
