Twitch, the leading live-streaming platform, has announced some major enhancements to its service offerings in 2024.

According to CEO Dan Clancy’s recent open letter, the company has big plans up its sleeve, with a strong emphasis on mobile experience, content creator support, and community safety.

What’s New for Twitch’s Mobile App in 2024?

The much-awaited redesign of Twitch’s mobile app will be the highlight of 2024.

This comprehensive update, the first major one since 2019, aims to provide a more immersive and user-friendly mobile experience.

Some of the key features to look forward to are:

  • A Revamped Discovery Feed: Previously limited, the Discovery Feed will now be available to all users as the main landing experience. This scrollable feed will showcase live streams, clips, and personalized content recommendations based on your preferences.
  • Seamless Story Creation and Sharing: Streamers will find it easier to create and share short-form video updates, known as Stories, directly from the mobile app.
  • Improved Monetization for Streamers: Viewers can now purchase subscriptions, gift subs, and Bits more conveniently on mobile, while features like Hype Trains will be optimized for the platform.
  • Mobile Mod View for iOS: Moderating streams will become a breeze with the introduction of Mobile Mod View for iOS users later this year.

Support Content Creators in 2024

In addition to the mobile app revamp, Twitch has several initiatives lined up to empower content creators and boost their earning potential:

  • Enhanced Clip Editor: The Clip Editor will receive updates to simplify the process of creating and sharing clips on social media, including a direct export option for Instagram.
  • Stream Together Improvements: The Stream Together feature, which allows multiple streamers to collaborate on a single stream, will undergo further development.
  • New Viewer Incentives: Twitch plans to introduce new incentives to encourage viewers to financially support their favorite streamers through various interactive features.

Prioritizing Community Safety and Harassment Reduction

Twitch remains committed to fostering a safe and inclusive community.

The platform will continue to enhance its enforcement system and update community guidelines to address harassment more effectively, ensuring both minor and severe offenses are handled appropriately.

In Clancy’s words, “There’s a lot to be excited about in 2024. We’re focusing on the products, tools and programs to help you build your communities and make it more rewarding, fun, and safe.”

Subscription Price Adjustments: Will Your Region Be Affected?

After increasing Tier 1 subscription prices in regions like Australia and Canada, Twitch anticipates raising sub prices in some additional countries later this year.

While the specifics are yet to be revealed, Clancy assures that creators will receive plenty of notice before any changes are implemented.
