Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world action-adventure game that follows the story of Jin Sakai, the last surviving samurai on the island.
After the defeat of his clan by the Mongols, Jin abandons his samurai code and becomes a “Ghost” – a stealthy warrior who attacks from the shadows to protect the island’s people.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions the game was initially released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2020.
Now, after years of anticipation, Ghost of Tsushima is finally making its way to PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 16, 2024.
It is coming with a Director’s Cut edition that promises a complete game with extra gameplay and bonuses like:
- The Iki Island story expansion
- The co-op multiplayer Legends mode
- Pre-order bonuses: New Game+ Horse, Traveler’s Attire, and Broken Armor dyes from Baku’s shop
What Makes the PC Port Special?
Sucker Punch has partnered with Nixxes Software (acquired by Sony in 2021) to bring Ghost of Tsushima to PC, ensuring a seamless and optimized experience for gamers.
The game has been meticulously optimized for PC, offering:
- Unlocked frame rates
- Custom mouse and keyboard controls
- Wide range of display setups, including ultra-wide monitors with 21:9 and 32:9 resolutions, as well as support for 48:9 resolutions for triple monitor setups.
- Support for cutting-edge graphics technologies like NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS upscaling
These technologies enable gamers to enjoy high-quality visuals while maintaining smooth frame rates, even on lower-end hardware.
More PlayStation Exclusives Are Coming to PC
Sony’s strategy of bringing its first-party titles to the PC has worked well for Sony lately, as evidenced by the successful ports of games like
- Helldivers 2
- God of War
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
- UNCHARTED™: Legacy of Thieves Collection
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- The Last of Us
- Destiny 2 Lightfall
- Horizon Zero Dawn
This trend highlights Sony’s recognition of the potential to expand its exclusive titles across multiple platforms especially PC port (of course not Xbox), tapping into the vast gaming market while bolstering its operating profits and audience reach.
Back in February, Sony president Hiroki Totoki stated,
“If you have strong first-party content, not only with our console but also other platforms like PC, first-party can be grown with multi platforms and that can help operating profit to improve.”
This hints more major PlayStation exclusives are coming soon to PC via ports.
