For millennials and boomers who grew up gaming in the 90s, rejoice!

Some of Blizzard’s most iconic and genre-defining games from that era are coming back and being added to the Blizzard.net client.

Although the graphics and gameplay might feel dated compared to modern games, these classics offered groundbreaking real-time strategy, compelling stories, and innovative multiplayer capabilities when they first launched.

Their rerelease offers a dose of nostalgia and lets both older and younger gamers experience or rediscover where many of today’s beloved gaming franchises and mechanics originated.

What 90s Blizzard Classics Are Coming Back?

The three 90s Blizzard titles being added to Battle.net are:

  • Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (1994) – The inaugural game in the Warcraft series that pioneered real-time strategy gameplay and helped spawn the wildly popular MMO World of Warcraft. Players can compete against the AI or go head-to-head against friends just like they could decades ago.

  • Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness (1995) – The sequel to Warcraft refined the original’s gameplay and storytelling while introducing new features like naval combat and multiple mission paths. The release will also include the Beyond the Dark Portal expansion.

  • Diablo (1997) – The first entry in Blizzard’s iconic action RPG franchise where players battle demons and undead while collecting randomized loot. This version will come with the original manual containing backstory lore and enemy info.

So whether you’re an old-school Blizzard fan eager for some nostalgia or a young gamer curious about the games your parents raved about, the return of these 90s classics offers something for everyone. Game on!
