Capcom recently announced that the grand prize for their 2024 Capcom Pro Tour and Capcom Cup XI Street Fighter tournaments will once again be $1 million.
This continues their trend of offering massive prizes at the Capcom Cup finals event, aiming to grow esports and Street Fighter.
A Brief History of The Capcom Pro Tour
The Capcom Pro Tour and Capcom Cup have been running since 2014 as a series of Street Fighter tournaments across the world.
Over the years, it has expanded to over 40 event locations and 129 participating countries.
It includes popular titles including Street Fighter V, Street Fighter IV, and the newest Street Fighter 6.
The prize pools have grown over the years, with Capcom offering their first $1 million top prize at Capcom Cup 2020.
For the 2023 season (Capcom Cup X), Capcom increased the total prize pool to over $2 million, the largest ever, to celebrate Street Fighter’s 35th anniversary and to hype the newest release Street Fighter 6.
The Capcom Cup X finals concluded yesterday where Taiwan’s player Uma claimed the $1 million grand prize after an intense tournament.
Big congrats to @uma327_sf6 on being the first @StreetFighter 6 Capcom Cup champion and winning $1,000,000! 🏆 https://t.co/t4L4JnL1LZ
