Rennsport, the Anticipated Sim Racing Game Joins the Esports World Cup

EWC rennsport

Rennsport, a highly anticipated sim racing game developed by the German company Competition Company GmbH, is making waves in the gaming world even before its official release.

This unique title aims to be “the most realistic racing simulation possible,” a bold claim backed by the credentials of its team comprising professional drivers, racing strategists, programmers, and esports experts.

Now, RENNSPORT is set to join the inaugural Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia alongside heavy hitters like Counter-Strike 2, DOTA 2, and Street Fighter 6.

The Game’s Impressive Esports Pedigree

While Rennsport is still in its closed beta phase for PC, the game has already garnered attention from the esports community.

Last year, the developers hosted the $500,000 ESL R1 Esport Series with two seasons in collaboration with ESL (under the Saudi Public Investment Fund), one of the biggest esports organizers.

Furthermore, the Saudi’s Gamers8 event in June 2023 featured the ESL R1 grid LAN event with a staggering $1 million prize pool.

Joining the Esports World Cup Lineup

Rennsport’s impressive performance in the esports arena has earned it a spot in the upcoming 2024 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this summer.

The game will join a prestigious lineup of titles, including:

  1. Counter-Strike 2
  2. DOTA 2
  3. StarCraft II
  4. Street Fighter 6
  5. TEKKEN 8
  6. EA Sports FC 24
  7. Rocket League
  8. Fortnite
  9. Free Fire
  10. PUBG/PUBG Mobile
  11. Mobile Legends
  12. Overwatch 2
  13. Honor of Kings
  14. League of Legends
  15. Teamfight Tactics.

A Cutting-Edge Racing Experience

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Rennsport promises state-of-the-art physics and graphics, coupled with a focus on modding and esports.

The game boasts an impressive lineup of cars, including top models from Audi, Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche, and more to come.

So far official confirmed cars:

Embracing Modding and Esports

One of Rennsport’s standout features is its focus on user-generated content.

Modding tools will allow the community to expand the game with custom cars, tracks, and liveries, which can be managed and traded using a companion app.

This approach, similar to the original Assetto Corsa, promises to extend the game’s lifespan for years to come.

Additionally, Rennsport’s partnership with ESL Gaming, known for hosting tournaments for games like Counter-Strike 2 and Halo, underscores its commitment to esports.

The game’s online multiplayer (currently limited to 12) will cater to various racing styles, offering ranked races, leagues, and broadcast options for streamers.

Platforms, Release Date, and More

While Rennsport is currently PC-only, the developers have hinted at the possibility of console and VR versions in post-release updates.

According to racinggames.gg, the game is set to enter early access in Q3 2024, with the final release scheduled for 2025.

Players can try Rennsport by signing up for the closed beta on the official website.
