Today, AMD and Skyesports have officially launched the Main Event for the “AMD GameOn 2024“, an open esports tournament of Counter-Strike 2. The competition boasts an impressive INR 300,000 prize pool and is open to all gamers across India.

This LAN event is being held as part of IndiaJoy 2024, Asia’s leading media and entertainment festival, at the HICC, Novotel, Hyderabad, on November 16 and 17.

Earlier, the tournament kicked off with open qualifiers, where registered teams battled for a spot in the Closed Qualifiers. The Closed Qualifier stage, featuring eight teams, has now concluded, resulting in four finalists who will compete at the AMD GameOn 2024 Main Event.

The four finalist teams set to compete for the championship title are as follows:

  1. True Rippers
  2. Carnival Gaming
  3. Gods Reign
  4. Victores Sumus

These teams will face off in a single-elimination bracket, with all matches being streamed live on the Skyesports YouTube channel, allowing fans to catch all the action online.

Speaking about the initiative, Pramit Khanna, Channel Marketing Manager for DIY and Gaming at AMD India, highlighted the company’s dedication to nurturing India’s esports scene. He said,

“As one of the leaders in the computing space, we have been supporting India’s esports ecosystem since day one, and the AMD GameOn 2024 is another such IP for esports enthusiasts. The open-for-all format ensures every gamer has a chance to compete in the pan-India tournament and make it to the LAN in Hyderabad. I wish the best of luck to all participants and can’t wait to welcome the four finalists in Hyderabad.”

Beyond the intense esports action, the AMD booth at IndiaJoy 2024 offers fans a hands-on experience with their latest techs such as AMD Ryzen™ processors and AMD Radeon™ graphics.

Expressing his excitement about the partnership, Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports, stated,

“We are thrilled to be the esports partner for AMD GameOn 2024, working once again with our anchor brand, AMD. With open qualifiers to give every gamer a chance and invited teams to ensure top-notch esports action, this tournament is a delight for all gamers. AMD has been one of the biggest supporters of esports in India over the years, and this tournament aligns with our vision of bringing Counter-Strike 2 into the spotlight ahead of Skyesports’ $1.7 million prize pool roadmap for 2025, where we will host four on-ground events across the country.”

According to Niko Partners, India’s gaming community is rapidly expanding, with approximately 500 million gamers currently, a number projected to reach 730 million by 2028, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10%. Furthermore, the report stated that 65% of these gamers either watch esports or actively participate in tournaments, making India one of the largest markets in terms of gaming population.
