Kai Cenat is an immensely popular Twitch streamer with over 9.4 million followers.

He was recently crowned Streamer of the Year at the Streamer Awards two years in a row!

After visiting Makoko earlier this month and witnessing the region’s struggles firsthand, Kai decided to give back in a huge way.

If you’re not familiar with Makoko, it’s a unique community in Lagos, Nigeria built on stilts over water. The area is known for its waterways and lack of educational resources.

How is Kai Helping the Kids of Makoko?

During one of his latest streams, Kai announced plans to build a brand new school for the children of Makoko.

He stated,

“The process of me building this new school in Nigeria has officially been stamped today…this new school in Makoko, for the kids that live in Makoko in Nigeria, um I started working on the school.”

What Will the New School Be Like?

Kai wants to create a comfortable, modern educational environment with new uniforms, clean seats, electricity, TVs, and even gaming consoles.

As he explained,

“I want to build it good enough to like where kids over there can feel comfortable going to school…Cause I know they will enjoy the small thing, you know?”

It’s a Long Process, But Kai is Committed

Construction is already underway, with Kai showing off videos of workers prepping the site.

However, he noted it will likely take over a year to complete, saying “It’s a step-by-step process, and it’s not going to be something that happens overnight.”

Kai has been in close contact with the school’s principal, ensuring the money is used properly:

“The principal of that school is actually being very communicative, he used the money for the right things, he’s showing me the step-by-step process of him getting people, making sure he gets the equipment. I am so happy it’s in his hands.”

In the end, I think we can all agree this is an impressive, wholesome project. Shoutout to Kai for being a stand up guy and giving back big time.

We’ll be following the further updates on it, just don’t be surprised if the next generation of Makoko kids become Twitch legends too. Just Kidding!
