The ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) has announced the inclusion of EA SPORTS FC Mobile, a popular football video game by Electronic Arts, in its Snapdragon Pro Series tournament.
This marks the first time a sports game has been featured in the Snapdragon Pro Series, which has traditionally been dominated by games like Call of Duty: Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Free Fire Mobile.
The game will debut in the Latin American region (LATAM) with online open qualifiers scheduled throughout November, giving players a chance to compete for a spot in the LAN event.
This first EA SPORTS FC Mobile LAN event in the Snapdragon Pro Series will be held on December 14th and 15th, as part of the LATAM Snapdragon Mobile Challenge 2024.
The event will take place in Komplexo Tempo in São Paulo, Brazil, where 16 top players from across Latin America will gather to compete in person for a share in the $25,000 prize pool.
Earlier this year, the ESL FACEIT Group had revealed ambitious plans for 2024, announcing a significant expansion of its tournament offerings. This expansion included increasing the overall prize pool to approximately $4.4 million (~£3.5 million) and adding more games to its competition roster.
The Snapdragon Pro Series, known for its diverse set of mobile game competitions, has continued to grow in popularity and scale, attracting a global audience.
Recent data highlights the tournament’s success, especially with Season 5 breaking several records. The official broadcasts for this season achieved 235 million views and amassed 23 million hours watched. The most notable performance came from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament in APAC, which reached a peak viewership of 888,710, as per Esports Charts.
Sam Turkbas, Senior Director and Commissioner of Football Esports at EA expressed his excitement over this collaboration. He commented,
“We are thrilled that EA SPORTS FC Mobile will be a part of the LATAM Snapdragon Mobile Challenge 2024. This platform allows players from around the world to live out their football dreams on a virtual field. We are eager to see the best LATAM players compete in Brazil, showcasing their skills on a grand stage.”
