BFI and Jet Skyesports Launch eFIBA India Qualifiers: Registration Open

eFIBA 2K24 India Basketball Federation of India and Skyesports bring eFIBA India Qualifiers

The Basketball Federation of India (BFI), the governing body for basketball in India, has announced the launch of the eFIBA India Qualifiers. This esports competition, organized in partnership with Jet Skyesports, one of India’s top esports organizers, will select the team to represent India in the upcoming international tournament, eFIBA Season 3.

How Can Indian Gamers Participate in the eFIBA India Qualifiers?

Aspiring NBA 2K24 players in India have a golden opportunity to showcase their skills and potentially represent their country on the global stage. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Registration deadline: September 5, 2024 [Link]
  • Prelim Rounds: September 6 to 8
  • Playoffs: September 9
  • Grand Finals: September 10

The qualifiers will determine the top 12 NBA 2K24 players who will represent India in the Regional Qualifiers for Asia/Oceania.

Moreover, winning the Regional Finals will secure India’s spot in the prestigious World Finals, scheduled for December. Here, the best teams will battle for the world championship and a share of the $50,000 prize pool.

Organizers

This ambitious tournament is a collaborative effort between two Indian organizations:

  • The Basketball Federation of India (BFI): As the governing body for basketball in India, BFI’s involvement lends credibility and official recognition to the event.
  • Jet Skyesports: India’s leading esports organizer, Jet Skyesports, will facilitate the qualifier process and host grassroots-level competitions to identify India’s top NBA 2K24 talent.

Speaking about the partnership, Shiva Nandy, the Founder and CEO of Jet Skyesports, expressed excitement over this collaboration. He stated:

“We are thrilled to partner with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) as the esports partner for the India Qualifiers in FIBA’s official eFIBA competition. Skyesports was founded with a vision to help aspiring players represent the country internationally. Partnerships like these allow us to stay true to that vision for the gaming community of India.”

eFIBA Season 3

Though the qualifiers will be played on NBA 2K24, eFIBA Season 3 will feature the recently launched NBA 2K25 on the PlayStation 5. The tournament brings together 60 national federations from six regional areas across the globe, all competing for a share of the $50,000 prize pool.

India is part of the Asia/Oceania region, which includes 8 other countries like Indonesia, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

Tournament Breakdown

  • Regional Pre-Qualifiers: October 1 to 14, 2024
  • Regional Qualifiers and Regional Finals: October 15 to November 7
  • eFIBA World Finals: December

In the last season, held in Sweden, the USA walked away with the championship trophy and the biggest share of the $50,000 prize pool, with France finishing second, Türkiye third, and the Philippines fourth.
