Who Are the winners of the 2024 Esports Awards at EWC, Riyadh?

The Esports Awards 2024 concluded its inaugural event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on August 24, marking a significant milestone in its partnership with the Esports World Cup.

One-half of this year’s event celebrated excellence across various prominent categories in the competitive gaming industry.

Samantha “Rivers” Rivera Treviño claimed the prestigious Streamer of the Year award, while Seth “Scump” Abner, who also served as one of the event’s hosts, was honored as Personality of the Year.

Industry veteran Jens Hilgers, founder of several prominent esports ventures, received the first-ever Lifetime Achievement award.

In the gaming categories, VALORANT secured the title of Esports Game of the Year, with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang dominating the mobile sector.

Riot Games emerged victorious as Esports Publisher of the Year, underscoring their continued influence in the competitive gaming landscape. Team Liquid‘s creative division was acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to esports content.

The winner selection process runs through several stages including expert panel evaluations with public voting, ensuring a balanced representation of industry insight and community preferences. While most categories allocate 75% weight to panel votes and 25% to public votes, certain high-profile awards, such as Streamer of the Year, were determined entirely by community input.

This year’s event in Riyadh is part of a three-year agreement with the Esports World Cup Foundation, representing the awards’ first venture outside the United States or Europe.

In response to concerns regarding the host country’s human rights record, organizers will host a second ceremony in London later this year.
