Brazilian soccer superstar Neymar Jr. is not just known for his skills on the pitch; he’s also an avid gamer and Counter-Strike fanatic.
Recently, Neymar took to social media to express his frustration with CS2, calling the game “rubbish” due to runaway hacking issues.
What Sparked Neymar’s Outburst?
While relaxing with CS2, Neymar reportedly encountered a hacking. He shared a 12-second clip on X (formerly Twitter) showing himself being killed through walls on the map Dust 2.
This led him to tag Valve and Counter-Strike’s official accounts, pleading for them to “help” fix the game’s hacking issue.

Cs2 tá um lixo … muito Hack 🤬🥶

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Neymar has criticized CS2. In April 2024, he called out the game for being “broken” after a controversial missed AWP shot.
Neymar reacted by sharing the Counter-Strike 2 clip.
Is the problem in the game or in Neymar?pic.twitter.com/DgVTeJMYvH

From the clip, it can’t be concluded whether it was hacking or another mis-shot by the footballer, but this can’t ignore the rampant hacking issue gamers are facing in CS2.
Despite Valve’s efforts to crack down on cheaters in late 2023, it seems the problem has returned with a vengeance.
Moreover, the problem isn’t just limited to casual play. A recent scandal in the Champions-of-Champions Tour (CCT) further highlighted the depth of this issue when the CS2 pro got caught live while cheating.
What Is CCT Cheating Scandal?
On August 4th, 2024, during a CCT Europe Series 7 match between BC.Game Esports and B8, CS2 pro player Joel ‘joel’ Holmlund was caught cheating.
The Akros Anti-Cheat system detected unusual activity from joel and banned him mid-match, leading to BC.Game Esports’ immediate disqualification from the tournament.
Interestingly, this isn’t joel’s first brush with controversy in the esports world. In September 2023, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) charged him with ‘Corruption‘ and ‘Betting‘ violations during his time with GODSENT. These charges resulted in a provisional ban from ESIC-sponsored events.
Moreover, the scandal is particularly damaging for BC.Game Esports, as their parent company operates an esports betting platform. Having a player caught cheating on their roster raises serious questions about the integrity of their organization and the matches they participate in.
Pro Player “joel” or Joel Holmlund from BC Game was banned by Akros Anti-Cheat during the CCT Season 2 Europe Series 7. The team was disqualified. ⛔️
* It seems that the detection comes from a “known signature”. No reason for a false positive according to the organizers. 🔎 pic.twitter.com/CXnMyU5q0t

The ongoing hacking crisis in CS2 raises serious questions about the integrity of online competitive gaming. It is now up to Valve and the CS2 developers to take decisive steps to address these concerns and ensure a fair and enjoyable gaming experience for all players.
