Yahya Khursheed, an 18-year-old resident of Lahore, Pakistan, tragically lost his life while playing the popular battle royale game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).
According to local police reports, Yahya was an avid PUBG player who had brought his father’s pistol into his room while gaming.
Preliminary investigations suggest that while Yahya was deeply engrossed in the game, the firearm accidentally discharged, resulting in a fatal injury.
The exact circumstances leading to the discharge are still under investigation, with police officials collecting evidence from the scene to piece together the tragic sequence of events.
This tragic event highlights the importance of parents keeping firearms away from children and monitoring their activities closely. It also raises awareness about the potential dangers of handling guns, especially while gaming.
This is not the first instance where PUBG addiction led to a tragic accident in Lahore. In 2020, a 16-year-old boy took his own life after his family tried to stop him from playing PUBG. Similar two incidents happened a month before that where 20-year-old Jonty Joseph and an 18-year-old boy committed suicide after being banned by their family member for playing PUBG.
