Esports Kenya Federation Announces National Circuit Ahead of 2025 Esports Olympics

Keniyan Esports Players

In a groundbreaking move, Ronny Lusigi, President of the Esports Kenya Federation (ESKF), has unveiled ambitious plans for a national esports circuit.

This initiative aims to prepare Kenyan gamers for the first-ever Esports Olympics Games(EOG), set to take place in Saudi Arabia next year.

The initiative is part of ESKF’s strategic efforts to position Kenya as a competitive player on the global esports stage. In an interview with NTV, President Ronny highlighted three key areas of this strategic plan:

  • Capacity building
  • Infrastructure development
  • Equipment enhancement

To achieve these goals, ESKF is collaborating with multiple organizations and leading academic institutions such as Mount Kenya University and ZeTech University.

These partnerships aim to build a robust esports infrastructure across the country, ensuring that Kenyan gamers have access to world-class facilities and training resources.

New Training Centers Open to All

As part of this initiative, ESKF will be opening dedicated esports training centers within these institutions.

These centers will be accessible to both students and the general public, offering training programs designed to develop competitive gaming skills, strategic thinking, and teamwork.

Leveraging Video Gaming Shops as Talent Hubs

In an innovative move to identify and cultivate talent, ESKF plans to utilize video gaming shops across the country as talent identification hubs.

These shops will serve as points of contact where potential esports athletes can be discovered and nurtured.

By galvanizing these existing gaming communities, ESKF aims to create a network that supports grassroots development and fosters a thriving esports ecosystem.

National Circuit to Cover Key Urban Areas

The newly announced national circuit will span five major urban areas in Kenya, providing a comprehensive national outlook for the esports scene.

This circuit is designed to offer competitive opportunities for gamers across the country, ensuring that talent is recognized and developed from all regions.

The tournament will likely play a significant role in the qualification process for the Olympic Esports Games 2025, although the IOC has not yet decided on the team qualification process.
