The Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup at Esports World Cup 2024 concluded with a spectacular finale on July 14, 2024.
The thrilling event took place at the SEF Arena in Boulevard Riyadh City, with an electrifying atmosphere that felt like a crucial World Cup football match.
In an epic showdown against the Filipino powerhouse Falcons AP Bren, Selangor Red Giants clinched the title and took home the grand prize of $1,000,000 with 1,000 club points.
What Made the MLBB MSC at EWC So Special?
The MLBB Mid-Season Cup at Esports World Cup (MSC EWC) 2024 is a groundbreaking event for several reasons:
- It was the first time the tournament was held outside Southeast Asia.
- The event boasted the highest prize pool in MLBB esports history, totaling a whopping $3 million.
- It featured 23 top MLBB pro teams from around the world.
- The tournament introduced a new format, including a Wildcard stage and an extensive Group Stage.
Selangor Red Giants’s Journey to Victory
The Selangor Red Giants, representing the esports division of Malaysia’s Selangor FC football team, entered the tournament as the undefeated champions of MPL Malaysia 2024.

From the Group Stage to the Finale, their path to victory was nothing short of impressive:
- Group Stage (July 3-7): Placed in Group B, they faced tough competition from See You Soon, Team Falcons, and Fnatic ONIC. The Red Giants emerged victorious with two wins and a draw.
- Quarterfinals (July 12): They narrowly defeated FireFlux Esport in a thrilling 3-2 series.
- Semifinals (July 13): The Selangor Red Giants dominated NIP Flash with a clean 3-0 sweep.
- Finals (July 14): In a final showdown against M5 World Champion – Falcons AP Bren, Selangor Red Giants clinched the title in a nail-biting best-of-seven series that went the full distance 4-3.
Sekys, the Selangor Red Giants Jungler, was crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) earning a well-deserved $50,000 prize. His exceptional performance throughout the event played a crucial role in the team’s success. He described the finale as the “most intense match” he ever encountered in his life.

The MLBB MSC Esports World Cup (EWC)2024 offered substantial rewards for the top-performing teams from the $3 million prize pool:
- Champions (Selangor Red Giants): $1 million and 1,000 club points
- Runners-up (Falcons AP Bren): $500,000 and 600 club points
3rd and 4th places received $200,000 and 275 points each:
