Twitch sensation Kai Cenat has officially reclaimed his title as the platform’s most-subscribed content creator, surpassing VTuber Ironmouse’s record of 326,252 subscribers. This impressive milestone was achieved during Cenat’s much-anticipated “Mafiathon 2” streaming, where he managed to gather over 340,000 subscribers in just a few days.

How Did Kai Cenat Break the Record?

Cenat initially set a Twitch subscriber record in February 2023 with 306,521 subscribers during his first “Mafiathon.” However, Ironmouse surpassed his record in September 2024 by reaching 326,252 subscribers during her own extended streaming event.

Determined to regain his crown, Cenat launched “Mafiathon 2” on November 1, 2024, streaming non-stop with a mission to break the subscriber record once more. By November 11, just 11 days into his month-long stream, Cenat had already smashed his old record, securing his position as the most-subscribed Twitch streamer once again.

Subscribers on Twitch pay content creators a monthly fee in exchange for perks like custom emotes and ad-free viewing. Cenat, who currently has over 14.1 million followers, is the fifth-most-followed creator on the platform.

His strategy of using subathons—where creators stream for long, uninterrupted periods to attract more subscribers—has proven highly effective. Unlike typical subathons, Cenat’s are filled with unique and entertaining content that keeps viewers hooked.

What Makes “Mafiathon 2” Special?

The “Mafiathon” series is named after Cenat’s fanbase, the “Kai Mafia.” The first event was a huge success, drawing in thousands of viewers with Cenat’s antics and celebrity guest appearances. For “Mafiathon 2,” he went even bigger. He started promoting the event in late October, teasing fans with a video featuring Kim Kardashian, where she humorously acted as his therapist discussing the marathon stream.

Despite the challenges, including being “swatted” on the first day—a dangerous prank where someone falsely reports an emergency to send police to a streamer’s location—Cenat’s stream continues to thrive.

One of the highlights of “Mafiathon 2” has been the lineup of celebrity guests. On November 4, Cenat visited Snoop Dogg’s recording studio, where the rapper gave him a tour and gifted him a massive blunt.

Other notable appearances included Lil Uzi Vert, who performed live on the stream, and rapper GloRilla, who reconciled with Cenat during a cooking session after previously blocking him on social media.

Celebrities like Kodak Black, Denzel Curry, Quavo, and even tennis star Serena Williams joined in for entertaining live sessions.

Additionally, “iCarly” star Miranda Cosgrove appeared on the first day of the stream, and cast members from “Good Luck Charlie” made a guest appearance, much to the delight of fans.

Social Cause

Kai Cenat’s latest streaming marathon is more than just an attempt to break records. He has committed to donating 20% of his earnings from “Mafiathon 2” to building a school in Makoko, Nigeria. This charitable aspect has motivated many fans to subscribe, knowing their contributions are supporting a good cause.

What’s Next for Kai Cenat?

With over two weeks left in “Mafiathon 2,” there’s still plenty of time for Cenat to push his subscriber count even higher. On average, he’s gaining around 20,000 new subscribers per day, which could see him setting an even more unbeatable record by the end of November.

In addition to breaking Twitch records, Cenat is making waves in the streaming community. He recently became the first streamer to be nominated for five individual awards at the 2024 Streamer Awards, set to be broadcast in December.

Kai Cenat’s Path to Twitch Stardom

Kai Cenat began his journey as a content creator in 2018 on YouTube, where he gained popularity with prank and comedy videos. In 2021, he transitioned to Twitch, focusing on gaming streams and pop culture discussions.

His engaging personality and collaborations with celebrities like Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Kevin Hart have made him a household name in the streaming world. Despite facing some controversies, such as the 2023 incident in New York where he was charged with inciting a riot during a PlayStation 5 giveaway (charges were later dropped), Cenat continues to dominate the streaming industry.
