What Major Game Franchises Are Making the Jump to Mac?
Several major publishers, including Ubisoft, Capcom, Blizzard, and Remedy, have announced their upcoming games for MacOS release.

Resident Evil
Resident Evil fans will be thrilled to learn that Capcom is bringing both Resident Evil 7 Biohazard (2017) and the Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019) on macOS, iPad, and iPhone.
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be released on July 2 on the iPhone 15 Pro series and Apple silicon-powered iPads and Macs.
- Resident Evil 2 Remake is “currently in development“
Previously Resident Evil 4 and Village, Capcom titles joined the platform back in September 2023.
Ubisoft
Ubisoft is also bringing its upcoming blockbuster Assassin’s Creed: Shadows to Mac along with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Shadows is launching in November 2024, while The Lost Crown is launching on August 8.
World of Warcraft
If you’re a World of Warcraft devotee, the next major expansion The War Within is also coming to Apple’s desktop platform.
World of Warcraft: The War Within is set to be released on August 26, 2024, for PC and macOS.
Palworld
Mac users will receive native integration for 2024’s major hit, Palworld.
The developer, PocketPair, has announced that Palworld will be available on all Macs with Apple Silicon later this year, incorporating all the excitement of the game, including the additions from the Sakurajima update scheduled for June 27.
Enhancements for an Even Better Gaming Experience
To sweeten the deal, Apple unveiled tech upgrades to improve gaming on macOS:
- Personalized spatial audio promises more immersive gameplay with reduced latency when using AirPods Pro 2.
- Game Porting Toolkit 2 aims to streamline the process for game developers to port games to Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Expect expanded APIs and predictive code completion.
