The Moroccan government has announced a significant investment of 360 million dirhams (around $36 million) to develop a specialized gaming zone in Rabat.

This initiative is part of the country’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the gaming industry across Africa and the Middle East.

This project, which is included in the 2025 Finance Bill (annual budget), is designed to serve as a central hub for game development, coding, and training. It will provide essential support to local gaming startups, helping them grow and thrive in a competitive market.

According to a report by Daba Finance, the Rabat gaming zone is expected to create up to 5,000 jobs and generate 5 billion dirhams in revenue by 2030.

One of the key aspects of this initiative is a partnership with tech giant Huawei, which will focus on developing the skills of young Moroccans in the gaming industry. Through this collaboration, Morocco aims to equip its youth with the expertise needed to succeed in game design, coding, and other related fields.

By fostering a skilled workforce, the country hopes to attract more investments in the gaming sector and position itself as a hub for digital innovation.

Morocco’s investment in the Rabat gaming zone is part of a larger effort to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on traditional industries. The government sees the gaming sector as a promising area for growth, given the global demand for digital entertainment.

To further enhance its reputation as a tech-friendly destination, Morocco will host the second edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo next year. This event is expected to draw industry experts, investors, and gaming enthusiasts from around the world, showcasing Rabat as a leading destination for technology and gaming.
