Xbox Game Pass Standard is the new basic tier of Microsoft’s subscription service, priced at $14.99 a month. It promises access to over 100 games and online console multiplayer. However, according to IGN, this tier comes with some significant limitations compared to its more premium counterpart, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
But first, let’s break it down all tiers with its price and features:
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: This is the top-tier option, now costing $19.99 a month. It’s got everything – all the games, PC access, EA Play, and even cloud gaming.
- Xbox Game Pass Standard: This new tier costs $14.99 a month replacing the console tier.
- PC Game Pass: For computer gamers, this $11.99 monthly option gives you PC games and EA Play.
- Xbox Game Pass Core: The budget option at $9.99 a month. You get about 25 games and can play online with friends.
Which Major Games Are Not Included in Xbox Game Pass Standard?
According to a recent report, a total of 41 games are now exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate. This includes some of the big names like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Diablo 4, and Starfield. Here is the full list:

What’s Different with Game Pass Standard?
- No more day-one releases of new games
- EA Play is gone

Game Pass Standard subscribers will have access to 370 games compared to 508 available to Ultimate subscribers. That’s because 96 EA Play games are no longer part of the deal. To get those extra games, you’ll need to upgrade to Ultimate and pay $5 more each month.
