Valorant’s New Double-Barreled Sniper Outlaw Brings Big Booms

Valorant's New Double-Barreled Sniper Outlaw Brings Big Booms

After 4 years, Valorant is finally getting a new weapon – the vintage double-barreled Outlaw sniper rifle.

This antiquated gun brings a unique two-shot playstyle, unlike Valorant’s other long rifles.

Priced at 2,400 credits, the Outlaw fills the gap between the rapid-fire Marshal and the devastating one-shot Operator.

Its defining trait is firing two high-powered shots before a lengthy reload.

This means the Outlaw can drop enemies with two body shots instead of demanding tricky headshots like the Marshal.

The double barrel also allows firing both rounds quickly without descoping for speedy follow-up shots.

According to early player testing, the Outlaw has high bullet penetration for ranged wallbangs too

Its vintage design masks some tactical advantages.

Who Will Benefit Most From the Outlaw?

Mobility-focused Agents like Jett and Chamber who specialize in hit-and-run attacks could make great use of the Outlaw.

Quickly dish out two big hits then dash away to safety.

The Outlaw may also appeal to players normally intimidated by Valorant’s unforgiving headshot-focused sniping.

Two-tap body shots are more forgiving while still packing a punch.

Is the Outlaw a Viable Competitive Weapon?

Despite its unique flair, the Outlaw may struggle to crack Valorant’s established weapon meta.

The similarly priced Vandal can still one-tap headshots across ranges.

And the Operator affords true long-range dominance for only 500 more credits.

The Outlaw’s small two-round capacity before a painful reload also limits its versatility compared to rifles or the Marshal.

But on certain maps or attack rounds, the Outlaw’s advantages could make it a smart buy.

Its cemetery-ready design hides some tactical tricks.

A Welcome New Option with Room to Grow

If nothing else, the Outlaw expands Valorant’s arsenal and provides new stylistic satisfaction.

The heavy crack of its double slugs will turn heads. And it looks incredibly fun to wield.

Hopefully, Riot continues slowly rolling out more weapon options over time.

While balance is paramount, more guns could subtly shift and expand Valorant’s gameplay dynamics. The Outlaw is a promising start.

The vintage double barrel arrives with Valorant Episode 8 Act 1 on January 9th
