Popular content creators/streamers Ludwig Ahgren and Charles “MoistCr1TiKaL” White Jr. have become co-owners of the esports team, Shopify Rebellion.
The announcement, made on January 17, 2025, includes merging their Moist Esports/Moist Moguls team with Shopify Rebellion, creating what could become one of the most-watched esports organizations of 2025.
Shopify Rebellion has already proven itself in the competitive scene, particularly in VALORANT, where they’ve won two Game Changers championships back-to-back. However, their League of Legends roster has struggled to gain traction in the LCS. Ludwig, who recently gained attention as a top League streamer after a playful bet with Tyler1, could revitalize the team’s fanbase and performance in the competitive scene.
For fans of Moist Esports, the merger comes with exciting news. Many of their beloved teams and players will transition to Shopify Rebellion. This includes the Apex Legends team, known for their ALGS Split Two Playoffs LAN victory, and their Super Smash Bros. Melee and Ultimate rosters, featuring stars like Zain, Moky, Joshman, Light, and Kola.
Jeremy Steeves, Shopify Rebellion’s founder, explained the thinking behind the merger: “Over the last year, we’ve been working together both publicly and behind the scenes. Coming together allows us to field more and stronger teams, invest deeper for fans, provide more to our players, and create a singular, more resilient organization.”
The timing is particularly significant with the upcoming launch of the LTA North Conference on January 25.
This merger represents a growing trend in esports where content creators are taking ownership roles in competitive teams. Other creators like Disguised Toast, Ibai Llanos, Kameto, Amouranth, and Caedrel have shown how combining creator influence with competitive gaming can create successful, fan-focused organizations.
