Overwatch 2 Announced Porsche Collaboration with New Skins

Porsche, the iconic German automobile manufacturer, is teaming up with Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch 2 for a special crossover event. 

What can players expect from this fusion of gaming and high-performance cars?

Will These Skins Have You Driving in Style?

The star attraction of the Overwatch 2 x Porsche event will be a pair of sleek new legendary skins inspired by Porsche’s cutting-edge designs. 

While the details on all the skins haven’t been officially revealed yet, here’s what we know so far about the skins that will be added in the Overwatch 2 x Porsche crossover:

• D.Va Legendary Skin: The first revealed skin is a legendary one for the hero D.Va. This skin takes design inspiration from the Porsche Macan Electric vehicle. It incorporates elements like Macan’s distinctive flat top light unit and the four-point daytime running lights that are a signature of Porsche’s design language.
• One More Unannounced Legendary Skin: Blizzard has confirmed that in addition to the D.Va skin, there will be one more unannounced legendary skin inspired by Porsche designs. The hero and specific design details haven’t been revealed yet.
• Additional Cosmetics: Beyond the two legendary skins, it’s likely we’ll also see other Porsche-themed cosmetic items added, such as weapon charms, player icons, sprays, etc. Previous Overwatch crossovers have included full cosmetic item sets.
• Potential Vehicle Skins? While not confirmed, some fans are speculating we could see skins for in-game vehicles like the Rialto Payload or Hammond’s Ball form based on Porsche car designs as well.

Porsche No Stranger to Gaming Partnership

While an automotive crossover with a first-person shooter may seem unorthodox, Porsche is no newcomer to the gaming scene. 

The brand has previously partnered with Microsoft for custom Xbox hardware and has collaborated with franchises like PUBG, Forza, and Final Fantasy.

Porsche has also ventured into gaming hardware, partnering with AOC to create the Porsche Design AOC AGON PD27 gaming monitor. 

More recently, they teamed up with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for a promo video titled “Driven by Dreams.“

Overwatch 2 Love a Good Crossover

For live service games, crossovers are a great way to keep players engaged and attract new audiences. 

Overwatch 2 has already collaborated with major franchises like One-Punch Man, Diablo IV, and K-pop sensations Le Sserafim and WWE star John Cena, introducing themed skins and other cosmetics.

Besides Porsche, they also announced a Cowboy Bebop collab, starting from March 12, with legendary Skins of Cassidy, Ashe, Mauga, Sombra, and Wreckingball.

When This Crossover Starts?

According to the official announcement, the Overwatch 2 x Porsche crossover event will kick off on April 9th with the launch of Season 10. 

In addition to new skins, players can likely expect themed challenges, cosmetic rewards, and perhaps even a limited-time game mode celebrating the collaboration.
