The Inevitable Games Fund (IGF) is a $100 million fund launched by King River Capital, Immutable, and Polygon Labs to support and encourage innovation in the Web3 gaming space.
This ecosystem-agnostic fund aims to provide additional resources and investments to on-chain gaming projects, fostering the growth and development of the Web3 gaming sector.
Who can invest in the IGF?
The IGF is open to “professional and sophisticated investors” only.
The fund has already secured commitments from high-profile investors such as Alpha Wave Ventures, Merit Circle, and several family offices, with its first close reaching $30 million.
What projects has the IGF identified for investment?
The fund has already identified several promising investment opportunities, including:
- Pixelmon: A decentralized Web3 gaming IP
- Metalcore: An open-world PvP arms game
- Guild of Guardians: A role-playing game
- My Pet Hooligan: Pro Skater Shooter game
More projects will be announced soon.
Why is the IGF crucial for the Web3 gaming industry?
According to Zeb Rice, co-founder and managing partner at King River Capital, video game spending exceeds global revenue from movies, streaming services, and the music industry combined.
He believes that “a similar shift has only just begun [with] Web3 technology,” and the IGF provides investors with “an opportunity to gain unique access to the best Web3 gaming projects globally and is designed to benefit from this multi-hundred billion dollar shift in spending [on] this disruptive new technology.”
