Are you pumped for a fresh new map rotation in Counter-Strike 2?
Well, buckle up, because one of CS’s most legendary map makers is ready to bring back a fan-favorite with a sick revamp.
Cache Remake: A First Look at FMPONE’s Overhaul
On February 16, Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling, a renowned community mapper who helped design the original Cache remake for CS:GO, gave us a juicy first glimpse at his modern-day Cache overhaul for CS2.
In a post on Twitter (now X), FMPONE showed off the map’s mid area and holy smokes, does it look fresh!
Alongside a stunning visual upgrade, he’s also made some pretty major layout changes.
Most notably, Cache’s iconic CT-side mid-window is nowhere to be seen.
Now, before you start panicking, don’t worry – FMPONE confirmed way back in June that he was planning a complete revamp of the map.
So while that window removal might seem shocking, you can bet he’s cooked up something special to balance it all out.
In fact, there’s a tiny peek-hole visible in the teaser image, potentially allowing for some cheeky nade play from CTs.

Will Cache Revamp Replace Vertigo or Mirage?
Needless to say, pros and fans alike are desperate to see this revitalized Cache added to the Active Duty map pool ASAP.
Since FMPONE’s teaser, countless replies have been pouring in, with players calling for specific maps to get the boot.
The frontrunner seems to be Vertigo, the oft-criticized multi-level map that joined Active Duty in 2019 but barely saw any updates in the transition to CS2.
Mirage, which has been around since the ice age with minimal changes, is also getting a lot of flak.
And considering Vertigo has consistently been one of the least-played maps for years, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see it swapped out for the glossy new Cache.
When Could Cache Join the CS2 Active Duty Map Pool?
As per Dot Esports, with the PGL Copenhagen Major coming up next month, any map pool adjustments are out of the question for the time being.
However, with Cache looking closer to completion by the day, we’d expect map pool changes to come soon after.
