Recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filings have revealed new technical details about Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console.

Spotted by The Verge, these regulatory documents provide insight into the hardware capabilities and features we can expect when the system launches sometime in 2025.

Here are the features specifically mentioned in the FCC filings:

  • Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) connectivity with up to 80MHz bandwidth, an upgrade from the original Switch’s Wi-Fi 5
  • NFC/RFID support located in the right Joy-Con, likely for continued Amiibo compatibility
  • Dual USB-C charging ports described as “two rechargeable USB ports (top and bottom side)”
  • BEE-001” product designation (where “BEE” is for the Switch 2 family, “001” is the main console, “014” is the right Joy-Con, and “012” is the left Joy-Con)
  • Backward compatibility confirmed by testing with an “HAC game card” (original Switch cartridge)
  • Maximum power rating of 15V with mention of an AC adapter that supports up to 20V
