The highly anticipated Esports World Cup (EWC) has just announced that Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) will be featured as an official tournament title at their 2024 event in Saudi Arabia.

Historic Nod to an Esports Titan

In their announcement, EWC organizers specifically referenced CS2’s history in Cologne, Germany – home to one of the game’s most prestigious tournaments in ESL One Cologne.

They stated that the winner of this year’s Cologne event would earn a spot in the EWC tournament in Riyadh.

Additionally, the champion of ESL One Katowice 2024 will also qualify for EWC’s CS2 bracket.

With ESL organizing both events, it makes perfect sense to draw EWC players from these time-honored competitions.

Point Tally of Club

The competition will utilize a “cross-game ranking” system, where players earn points for their clubs based on performance in their respective tournaments.

These club points will be tallied to determine the best overall esports organization in the world – a highly coveted honor.

More Games Still to Come

The EWC has only revealed two games so far, but promises that more will be announced in the coming months.

Fans are eagerly awaiting upcoming game announcements for the summer 2024 event.

If CS2 and StarCraft II are any indication, it’s sure to be an all-star lineup.

Rumor that League of Legends and Valorant will also join the EWC.

Free Fire already announced their mid-season alignment with EWC, but yet to be confirmed by the EWC Foundation.

There is a strong possibility that other esports titles like PUBG, DOTA 2, and Apex Legends will soon join the club.

A Groundbreaking Global Tournament

As the first event of its kind, the EWC has already implemented innovative structures like the Club Program which incentivizes participating organizations

The cross-game ranking system is also something never seen before in esports.

With CS2 now confirmed, the EWC is shaping up to be an absolute game-changer for the future of competitive gaming.

When the best CS2 pros face off in Riyadh, it will undoubtedly be an historic showcase of Counter-Strike skill.
