Good news Xbox players – a firmware update is coming to address the notorious save bug plaguing Baldur’s Gate 3 on console.
Developer Larian Studios confirmed Microsoft has identified the problem and will roll out a fix.
Details on the Problematic Xbox Save Bug
Since launch, Xbox versions of Baldur’s Gate 3 have suffered from a bug causing save files to mysteriously vanish.
This understandably frustrated many players.
Larian stated Microsoft pinpointed the issue as being tied to console firmware.
A system update will resolve it.
The update can be downloaded manually starting January 16th or via automatic rollout a week later.
What Larian and Microsoft Had to Say
Larian boss Swen Vincke tweeted Microsoft “found the firmware issue” responsible and that an imminent fix is coming.
While not yet verified, Larian is “optimistic” this will solve the Xbox save woes.
This firmware update promises to finally provide a complete fix, though Larian continues refining BG3 across platforms.
Despite some launch headaches, Baldur’s Gate 3 remains a critical and commercial hit.
Larian regularly pushes out new content and hotfixes.
Some ongoing complaints involve accidental banning due to automatic cloud uploads of mature scenes.
Larian stated they are working with Microsoft to address this.
The developer is already teasing their next game on the horizon.
But for now, they remain committed to fulfilling the vast potential of Baldur’s Gate 3 as one of the most ambitious RPGs ever.
