SEGA created waves at The Game Awards by announcing modern revivals of beloved franchises like Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.
But their teaser’s mysterious “and more” promises even more blasts from the past on the way.
As per rumor, around 12+ SEGA classics are gearing up for comebacks.
SEGA already greenlit around 10 reboots between 2020 and 2021.
Five of them were confirmed at The Game Awards – Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi.
According to Insider Gaming, they also bringing its three anime classic games and they’re in early development.
1. Panzer Dragoon
This cult classic shoot ‘em up first dazzled on the SEGA Saturn with its cinematic panoramas and airborne dragon-riding duels in 1996.
Now Panzer Dragoon is ready to retake flight, bringing its brand of aerial combat into the modern day.
SEGA’s keeping details close to the vest, but we can’t wait to saddle up our dragons once more.
2. Neon Genesis Evangelion
The legendary mech anime in 1995 is prepped for interactive action, with a new video game adaptation in early development.
Whether an action game or strategy RPG, piloting Evangelion Unit-01 against Angels in stunning 3D promises bone-crunching robot action only matched by the heady philosophical intrigue.
3. Sakura Taisen/ Sakura War
This long-absent JRPG/visual novel mashup enjoyed immense popularity in Japan in the 1990s but remains obscure in the West.
With its Taisho-era setting, anime-inspired characters, and tactical mech combat, Sakura Taisen is ripe for a worldwide breakout.
SEGA could have a sleeper hit on their hands.
