Could Classic LucasArts Games Like Grim Fandango Come to PS5? Exciting Leak Suggests a Remastered Return

LucasArts, now known as Lucasfilm Games, is well-known for creating some of the most iconic Star Wars video games

But in the 1990s, the studio was also responsible for pioneering story-driven “point-and-click” adventure games on PC

Titles like Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, and Day of the Tentacle are still fondly remembered today for their engaging puzzles, hilarious writing, and unforgettable characters.

And now, it seems these LucasArts classics could be making their way to PlayStation 5.

What Hint Suggests These Games Are Coming to PS5?

According to a leak from the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, and Full Throttle have been rated for both PS5 and PS4.

While remastered versions already exist on PS4, native PS5 editions would be new.

Though ratings board leaks don’t guarantee a release, they often precede official announcements.

Why Would LucasArts Classics Come to PlayStation?

In 2019, Microsoft acquired Double Fine Productions, the studio comprised of ex-LucasArts talent who remastered these 90s point-and-click titles.

This led some to assume the games were now Xbox exclusives.

However, rumors indicate Microsoft plans to bring future first-party releases to PlayStation.

These remastered LucasArts adventure games could be part of this initiative.

It would introduce a beloved but niche genre to a new PlayStation audience.

What Are These LucasArts Classics?

Day of the Tentacle – The 1993 sequel to Maniac Mansion has players switching between three characters across different time periods to stop an evil mutant tentacle’s plans.

Full Throttle – 1995’s biker adventure features an all-star cast of voice actors, including Mark Hamill and Roy Conrad.

All three titles were remastered with updated graphics, commentary, and the ability to switch between new and old visuals

Native PS5 versions could push the visuals even further with higher resolutions, advanced lighting, and smooth 60fps gameplay.

Final Thoughts

For many gamers in the 90s, LucasArts was synonymous with incredible adventure games in the early days of PC gaming.

These games had clever puzzles, excellent writing, and pushed the boundaries of interactive storytelling.

Though the genre has faded over time, point-and-click adventures still hold an important place in gaming history.

So refreshed LucasArts classics could attract new fans.

And if Microsoft is extending the olive branch to PlayStation, it’s a smart way to reintroduce Xbox properties.

We’ll have to wait for official confirmation, but the prospect of these remastered 90s gems on PS5 is exciting for longtime fans and new players alike.
