What Were the Best-Selling Games Last Month?
According to the latest GSD data (published by gamesindustry.biz), Helldivers 2 has emerged as the top-selling game in the UK for the month of March 2024.
After eight weeks on the market, its sales have surpassed those of the highly anticipated Spider-Man 2 during the same period.
How Did Other Games Perform in March?
The month of March witnessed a significant surge in gaming sales, with a 26% increase over the same period in 2023, totaling 3.65 million PC and console game units sold across the UK.
This surge can be attributed to several factors, including the highly anticipated releases of blockbuster titles like Helldivers 2, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and Dragon’s Dogma 2.
- Dragon’s Dogma 2, the latest installment in Capcom’s action RPG series, narrowly trailed behind Helldivers 2, although it’s worth noting that the game had only been out for 2 weeks when the data closed.
- Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, released in February but included in the March data, secured the fifth spot, closely following WWE 2K24 and EA Sports FC 24.
- WWE 2K24 put up a stronger opening than its 2023 predecessor, with sales up 8% over the same period.
The Surprising Resurgence of Command & Conquer
In a surprising turn of events, the Command & Conquer, a real-time strategy video game franchise made a notable comeback, driven by a 17-title bundle released on Steam during March.
Two of the games, Command & Conquer: Generals (2003) and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (2000), secured positions in the Top Ten, while a total of ten titles from the series made it into the Top 20.
