Elden Ring Tops U.S. Game Sales in June 2024, Powered by Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco’s critically acclaimed Elden Ring reclaimed the top spot as the best-selling game in the U.S., driven by the release of its much-anticipated expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. The game dominated sales across all major platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Steam, according to Circana’s executive director Mat Piscatella.

Elden Ring wasn’t the only title making waves. Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023) secured second place, showcasing its continued popularity. Meanwhile, the Steam debut of the Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece earned it the third position, proving the enduring appeal of the beloved series.

In the hardware segment, the PlayStation 5 remained the top seller for June, leading both unit and dollar sales. The Nintendo Switch ranked second in units sold, while Xbox Series X|S consoles took the second spot for dollar sales. Despite these successes, overall gaming industry revenue in the U.S. declined by 5% year-over-year, totaling $4.6 billion for the month.
