Luna Galaxy’s Jafonsog Triumphs in EA FC 24 at Esports World Cup 2024

Luna Galaxy’s João “Jafonso” Vasconcelos emerged victorious in the EA FC 24 tournament at the Esports World Cup 2024, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He claimed the championship by defeating Brazil’s Gabriel “Young” Freitas of Tuzzy E-Sports with a decisive 6-2 victory in the grand final, taking home $300,000 and 1,000 Club Points.

The EA FC 24 tournament featured 16 top players competing for a share of the $1 million prize pool.

The competition began with a group stage, where the players were divided into two groups of eight. They competed in a round-robin format, with each match played as a Best-of-One (Bo1) with nine-minute halves, ensuring fast-paced action.

Jafonso had an outstanding tournament, dominating his opponents throughout. Although he faced a single defeat against Young in the group stage, Jafonsog quickly regained his momentum.

In the semifinal match against Brazil’s Paulo “PHzin” Chaves, Jafonsogv showed incredible determination. Despite a last-minute penalty that seemed to seal his fate, he equalized in stoppage time to send the match into extra time. He then secured victory with a last-minute goal, winning 7-6 and advancing to the final.

In the grand final, Jafonsog took an early lead, scoring two goals within the first 10 minutes of play. He maintained control throughout the match, never allowing Young to pose a serious threat. The final score of 6-2 was a testament to Jafonsogv’s dominance and skill.
