In a thrilling finale to the BetBoom Dacha tournament in Belgrade, Serbia, Team Falcons emerged victorious after an intense best-of-five series against Tundra Esports.
This victory marks a significant breakthrough for the team, who finally overcame their recent string of near-misses, including their third place at Riyadh Masters, fourth at TI, and second at PGL Wallachia S2.
Tournament Journey of Team Falcons and Tundra Esports
The BetBoom Dacha tournament, a premier Dota 2 event, began on October 19 with twelve teams vying for the championship.
In the group stages, Team Falcons and Tundra Esports showcased strong performances. Tundra, competing in Group A, secured second place by defeating MOUZ and Talon Esports. Meanwhile, Team Falcons dominated Group B, topping the standings after victories over Gaimin Gladiators, Nouns Esports, and the L1GA team. This placed both teams in promising positions for the playoffs.
The top four teams from each group advanced to the playoffs, while the bottom two – MOUZ, Talon, L1GA, and Nouns – were eliminated from the tournament.
The playoff rounds, beginning on October 23, featured a best-of-three double-elimination format with eight qualifying teams.
BetBoom Team kicked off the playoffs with a clean 2-0 victory over Aurora Gaming, while Tundra Esports secured a 2-1 win against Gaimin Gladiators. Meanwhile, Team Spirit defeated Yakult’s Brothers 2-0, and Team Falcons continued their strong run by sweeping Team Liquid 2-0.
These victories led to the upper bracket semifinals, where Tundra Esports overcame BetBoom Team 2-0, and Team Falcons earned another decisive 2-0 win against Team Spirit, advancing both teams to the upper bracket finals.
In the upper bracket finals, Team Falcons faced Tundra Esports in a closely contested match, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory to advance to the grand final.
However, this loss didn’t end Tundra’s journey. They regrouped in the lower bracket and delivered a 2-0 sweep over BetBoom Team on October 26, setting up a much-anticipated rematch with Team Falcons in the grand final.
Grand Finals Showdown
The grand final was set as a best-of-five
Game 1: The Aegis Turning Point
The first game was tightly contested, with both teams striving to secure an early advantage. The balance shifted when Nightfall’s Luna obtained the Aegis of the Immortal, giving Tundra an edge in critical teamfights. Falcons’ Gyrocopter, played by Skiter, held up well, but Tundra’s smart drafting allowed them to prevail in this battle.
Game 2: Falcons’ Dominant Response
Unlike the even-paced first game, this one was a one-sided affair, with Falcons taking control early and racking up kills through their Pangolier hero. By denying Tundra’s Medusa the late-game opportunities she needed, Falcons claimed the game with a commanding 30-17 score, leveling the series.
Game 3: Nightfall’s Alchemist Show
Tundra reclaimed their footing in Game 3, with Skiter’s Alchemist giving an impressive performance. Dominating the net worth chart, Tundra’s Nightfall leveraged Roshan to gain crucial resources, eventually pushing through Falcons’ defenses.
Game 4: A Late-Game Thriller
The fourth game showcased high-level Dota 2 at its finest, with both teams trading advantages until the 40-minute mark. As both teams grappled for the lead, Ammar “The Unkillable” of Falcons created a crucial opening with a well-timed Doom play. His tactics disrupted Tundra’s lineup, sending the series into a fifth and final game.
Game 5: The Championship Clincher
In the decisive Game 5, both teams showcased their strongest plays. Falcons’ Skiter continued to excel with his Alchemist, while Tundra’s Enigma, played by 33, wielded a powerful Refresher Orb. Despite multiple intense teamfights and last-minute buybacks, Falcons seized a crucial advantage when Tundra misplayed a key fight. Ammar’s incredible defense and timely abilities turned the tide, allowing Falcons to capitalize on Tundra’s mistakes and ultimately close the series.
