Bandai Namco to Publish Rebel Wolves’ Debut RPG Dawnwalker Worldwide

Bandai Namco, a well-known game publisher behind iconic series like Dragon Ball, Tekken, Dark Souls, and Elden Ring, has officially partnered with Rebel Wolves to release the studio’s first game, Dawnwalker.

This new fantasy role-playing game (RPG) will be available globally on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox in both physical and digital formats.

Alberto Gonzalez, Bandai Namco Europe’s Vice President of Business Development, expressed excitement over the collaboration, calling it a significant step in the company’s content strategy for the Western market. “By combining our strengths, we will bring this debut game from Rebel Wolves to players worldwide, marking an excellent addition to our portfolio,” he noted.

Rebel Wolves, established in 2022, was founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, former Game Director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at CD Projekt Red. Konrad left CD Projekt Red a year earlier, amidst denied allegations of workplace bullying, to start this new venture. With support from investor NetEase, Rebel Wolves soon announced Dawnwalker as its first title.

Recently, Konrad’s brother, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, joined Rebel Wolves in January. He, too, departed from CD Projekt Red in 2021, around the same time as Konrad, and had a short stint at Riot Games as a narrative designer for an unreleased League of Legends MMORPG. Now, at Rebel Wolves, Mateusz brings additional expertise to the growing team as they work on Dawnwalker.

According to the press release, Dawnwalker is a dark fantasy RPG designed for mature audiences. Set in medieval Europe, the game aims to deliver a deeply immersive experience, combining sandbox-style gameplay with a powerful narrative. Rebel Wolves boasts a talented team of developers, including core members from The Witcher 3 team, who are using Unreal Engine 5 to bring this ambitious vision to life.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Konrad highlighted his desire for Rebel Wolves to remain a small, close-knit studio. He emphasized the advantages of a smaller team, stating, “When you work at a company like ours, you don’t have 20 colleagues; you have five. You may take on more tasks, but you also have a larger impact on the game’s outcome.”

Konrad expressed that partnering with Bandai Namco Europe was a natural fit, praising the company’s experience with narrative-driven RPGs. “Their values align with ours, and their success speaks for itself. We’re excited to work together to bring the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga to a global audience,” he shared.

With this new publishing deal in place, Rebel Wolves has committed to providing more information about Dawnwalker later this year.
