Huawei, the Chinese telecommunications giant, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan Government to boost the country’s gaming industry.
The partnership was revealed at the Gaming Startups Meeting Day, an event held by Morocca’s Ministry of Culture on October 22, in its capital, Rabat.
Huawei shared its plans to bring critical technologies, including 5G and cloud support, and offer training programs to support local developers. This partnership aims to strengthen Morocco’s gaming infrastructure and stimulate growth within the industry.
The event gathered influential leaders in the gaming sector, underscoring Morocco’s commitment to establishing a competitive ecosystem for gaming. By partnering with Huawei, Morocco aspires to create an environment where local developers and entrepreneurs can thrive, ultimately positioning the country as a leading gaming hub in North Africa.
Huawei’s support will allow local game studios to focus on high-quality production, efficient distribution, and creative development without facing significant technological constraints. Such advancements also align with Morocco’s national goals, which prioritize digital capacity-building, attracting foreign investment, and generating job opportunities within tech-driven sectors.
This collaboration marks a significant step for Morocco as it aims to establish itself as a leader within the African gaming landscape. Countries like Egypt and South Africa have already made notable progress, but Huawei’s backing positions Morocco as a strong contender in the regional market.
