Subnautica 2 Brings Co-Op and New Challenges to Xbox and PC

The eagerly awaited sequel to the Subnautica series, Subnautica 2, is set to launch next year for Xbox Series X and S, as well as for PC through the Xbox Game Preview program.

For those subscribed to Game Pass, the new title will be available right from its release day.

This fresh addition promises to deliver an exciting new adventure that takes players beyond Planet 4546B, introducing an uncharted world filled with lush landscapes, fascinating creatures, and hidden secrets waiting to be unveiled.

With its blend of exploration, survival, and thrilling encounters, the game offers a journey that players of all levels can enjoy.

One of the most anticipated features of Subnautica 2 is the co-op multiplayer mode. This will allow up to four players to team up, making exploration and survival a shared experience. This aligns with publisher Krafton’s “game-as-a-service” approach which enhanced the replayability of the game.

However, for those who prefer the classic solo adventure, the game retains a single-player mode, ensuring the same level of depth and challenge for those who want to brave the alien planet alone.

In an official statement, Donya Abramo, Community Manager at Unknown Worlds, the game’s developer, hinted at exciting updates, including improved tools, advanced vehicles, and refined base-building mechanics. Additionally, players can expect a range of creatures—both large and small—that will add depth and dynamism to the new planet’s ecosystem.

The developer says they will share more details in the coming months.
