Legendary mid-laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok claimed the prestigious Player of the Year title at the first-ever League Awards. The 28-year-old South Korean superstar, who plays for T1, triumphed over elite nominees like Knight, Peanut, Kiin, Caps, Bin, Zeka, Keria, and Chovy. This accolade further cements Faker’s legacy as one of the greatest players in esports history.
Known as the “Unkillable Demon King,” Faker has been a cornerstone of competitive League of Legends since his debut in 2013. In 2024, he demonstrated unparalleled skill and leadership, leading T1 to the League of Legends World Championship Finals and securing key regional victories. His storied career includes three World Championship titles and countless MVP honors, setting a benchmark for excellence in esports. This achievement also led to him winning the Esports PC Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year at the Esports Awards.
The League Awards 2024 marked a milestone as the first event dedicated to celebrating the League of Legends esports community. Hosted by prominent personalities Caedrel and Sjokz, the event took place in Berlin on December 5 in a party-style offline ceremony with numerous guests. The awards featured 19 categories, showcasing the best moments, players, and creators. Fans participated in the process by voting through the League Awards website, with nominations running from November 13 to 20 and voting the following week.
