Microsoft to Implement Ban on Unlicensed Xbox Accessories in November

Microsoft is set to implement a ban on the use of unauthorized third-party accessories like controllers, headsets, mice, and more on Xbox consoles starting November 12, 2023. The decision sparked mixed reactions from Xbox players, particularly those using unlicensed controllers, headsets, and various other gadgets during gameplay.

Microsoft’s Reasons Behind the Ban

Recently, Xbox users who are using third-party devices have started receiving notifications showing that their “connected accessory is not authorized.

Implementation of “error 0x82d60002” will render all such devices nonfunctional from November 12 onwards.

According to Microsoft, these devices are compromising the overall gaming experience of gamers and need to be banned.

Other Major Changes In Xbox

Integration of Clipchamp

Amidst these major changes, Microsoft has rolled out a recent console update, introducing a host of new features to enhance the gaming experience.

One notable addition is the integration of Clipchamp, enabling Xbox gamers to seamlessly edit and share their game captures across various social media platforms.

Furthermore, the update includes refined keyboard mappings and button inputs, catering to the preferences of users employing the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 or the Xbox Adaptive Controller.

Pricing Adjustments

Furthermore, Microsoft has raised the price of the Xbox Series S in Brazil, stirring discontent among gamers in the country.

With the price hike pegging the console at R$3,599 (approximately $710), the significant surge from the earlier price of R$2,500 (around $500) has led to concerns regarding the perceived value proposition of the Series S.

This move has sparked debates over the narrowing price gap between the Series S and the more powerful Series X, potentially impacting consumer preferences in the region.

Strong Impacts of Recent Xbox Changes

Xbox has undergone significant transformations, showing an upward course in its operations.

Notably, the strong performance of the Xbox Game Pass, coupled with the highly anticipated release of Starfield, has contributed to a significant surge in sales for the Xbox Series X/S.

Also, the high-stakes legal battle ended with Microsoft’s successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, marking a strategic milestone for the tech giant and will add more games to its library.

Amid these developments, Microsoft has now shifted its focus on redefining the usage parameters for unlicensed products.
