Chinese team Wolves Esports claimed victory in the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) tournament at the Esports World Cup 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They secured the championship by defeating the Korean powerhouse T1 by 3:1 in the grand final, taking home $200,000 and 1,000 Club Points.
Tournament Structure
The TFT tournament featured the top 16 teams, divided into four groups, competing in a best-of-three, double-elimination format. The top two teams from each group advanced to the playoffs, where the intense competition continued until only two teams remained for the best-of-five grand final.
Wolves Esports’s Road to Victory
Wolves Esports showcased their dominance throughout the tournament. They topped Group A, defeating ZETA Division and Branching Out with 2:1 victories each. In the quarterfinals, they outplayed Natus Vincere with a 2:0 win, followed by another 2:0 triumph over Team Vitality in the semifinals, earning their spot in the final match.
How Did Runner-Up T1 Perform?
T1 also had a strong run in the tournament, topping Group C by defeating Weibo Gaming and Zero Tenacity with 2:1 victories each. They continued their winning streak by defeating Branching Out in the quarterfinals and Twisted Minds in the semifinals, both with 2:0 scores. However, T1 couldn’t overcome the dominance of Wolves Esports in the BO5 grand final, ultimately losing 1:3.

Wolves Esports’ player LiShao was named the tournament’s MVP, earning an additional $50,000 for his outstanding performance.
Prize Distribution for Teamfight Tactics at EWC 2024
The tournament boasted a $550,000 prize pool which was distributed among the 16 participants as below:
- 1. Wolves Esports: $200,000 + 1,000 Club Points
- 2. T1: $100,000 + 600 Club Points
- 3rd & 4th: Team Vitality and Twisted Minds: $45,000 each + 275 Club Points
- 5th to 8th: Natus Vincere, Weibo Gaming, Toronto Ultra, Branching Out: $15,000 each + 60 Club Points
- 9th-12th: Geekay Esports, MIRAEN SEJONG, Zero Tenacity, Team Falcons: $7,500
- 13th-16th: ZETA DIVISION, Karmine Corp, Fnatic, On sait Pas: $5,000
Viewership Stats
The TFT event at the Esports World Cup 2024 drew a total viewership of 425,000, with a peak of 34,996 viewers during the final match. The tournament averaged 13,000 viewers over 32.5 hours of airtime, according to Esports Charts.
