Warner Bros. Reportedly Developing a New Batman Game

According to reports from Puck News, Warner Bros. is allegedly developing a new Batman video game. But here’s the kicker: instead of continuing Rocksteady’s Arkham series, this game will be a standalone title set in the same universe as Matt Reeves’ recent film, “The Batman.”

The film was a major hit for Warner Bros. when it was released in 2022. With an impressive 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes and over $770 million in global box office earnings, it was a rare triumph for the struggling DCEU at that time.

Given this success, it’s no surprise that the studio is expanding the movie’s universe. A sequel is already in the works, set to release on October 2, 2026, and a TV series focused on The Penguin is on the way. Now, a video game is likely being added to this growing list of spin-offs.

As of now, no official announcement has been made. Reports suggest it will probably be a single-player, open-world game exploring Bruce’s early days as a vigilante in Gotham City, potentially allowing players to roam the city and do some detective work similar to the movie story and Arkham Knight game.

However, there is no confirmed report regarding whether movie actor Robert Pattinson or other actors will lend their voice or likeness for the game characters.

It’s worth noting that Warner Bros.’s last DC game, Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, was a complete disaster, costing the studio over $200 million in losses. However, David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros., remains optimistic about its game division and expressed his desire to leverage some of its IPs to other studios in the latest Q2 earnings call. So, there is another possibility where the new Batman game could be made by another studio or be an incubation project.

This is all speculation for now, and we’ll have to wait for an official announcement. But just hearing about a new Batman game gives me chills. Let’s see how things develop.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to Batman: Arkham Shadow, an upcoming VR experience set in the Arkhamverse, slated for release exclusively on Quest 3 headsets later this year.
