Warner Bros. Job Listing Hints at Rocksteady’s Return to Batman Action

Single-Player Batman Arkham Game

Rocksteady Studios, best known for the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, is working on a new project that aligns closely with the gameplay mechanics found in the Arkham series.

According to a job posting on Warner Bros. Discovery’s official careers page, Rocksteady is hiring a Game Director for this project.

The listing specifies that the ideal candidate should have experience in “Third-Person Action, Melee Brawlers, and Open World Traversal games.

This has fueled speculation that Rocksteady could be returning to its roots after the commercial failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League—a live-service looter shooter that deviated from the studio’s signature gameplay style.

Hints of a New Batman Game?

While the job listing does not explicitly mention a new Batman game, it strongly suggests a return to mechanics that defined the Arkham trilogy.

As reported by Bloomberg recently, Rocksteady is allegedly developing “a single-player Batman game”, reinforcing earlier rumors from September about the studio’s next project. However, it also stated that the game is too early in development and “years away from landing.

Warner Bros. Discovery is also adjusting its strategy to focus more on Batman games. In the quarterly results released in November, CEO David Zaslav announced that the company will concentrate on only four major franchises: Mortal Kombat, Batman, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones.

The decision comes after a series of financial setbacks in WBD’s gaming division with reports saying a $200 million loss from “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” while a $100 million hit from “MultiVersus” and “Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.”

As of now, neither Rocksteady Studios nor WB Games has made any official announcement.
