Riot Games has revealed the tournament format for Valorant at the upcoming Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. The prestigious global competition, held annually in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will feature Valorant among its lineup of 24 competitive gaming titles.
According to the announcement, the Valorant tournament will run from July 8 to 13, 2025, at Boulevard Riyadh City. The competition will bring together 16 elite teams from around the world to compete in both group stages and playoffs.
The Group Stage runs from July 8 to July 10 and includes 16 teams divided into four groups of four (4×4). Each group will follow a double-elimination format, with matches played as best-of-one (BO1).
On the first day, 12 matches will determine initial standings, followed by four matches each on days two and three to finalize the top eight teams advancing to the Playoffs.
The Playoff Stage, held from July 11 to July 13, adopts a single-elimination bracket. The Quarterfinals and Semifinals on July 11 and 12 will be best-of-three (BO3), while the Grand Final on July 13 will be a best-of-five (BO5) to crown the champion.
Team selection primarily relies on the Global Valorant Ranking System (VRS) as of June 2025, though exact qualification details are still not disclosed.
Full Schedules:
- July 8: Group Stage – 12 Matches
- July 9: Group Stage – 4 Matches
- July 10: Group Stage – 4 Matches
- July 11: Quarterfinals
- July 12: Semifinals
- July 13: Grand Final
Reports indicate that Chinese teams might be absent from the EWC Valorant event due to scheduling conflicts with VCT China. The Valorant Champions Tour 2025 China Stage 2 is scheduled from July 3 to August 31 in Shanghai, directly overlapping with the EWC tournament.
It’s important to note that while Riot Games has partnered with the Esports World Cup, the Valorant matches at EWC will not be integrated into the official VCT circuit. This partnership extends beyond just Valorant, as Riot Games has committed to featuring League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics at the event through 2027.
The prize pool remains unconfirmed, but expectations are high given the EWC’s $2 million pool for League of Legends.
The tournament promises exciting matchups between top-tier organizations like Sentinels, T1, Gen.G, and other elite Valorant teams. This addition to the competitive calendar gives fans another opportunity to watch world-class Valorant gameplay on an international stage.
