V Rising, the hit open-world vampire survival game from Stunlock Studios, has reached an impressive milestone, selling over five million copies worldwide.
Launched in Early Access in May 2022, the game quickly gained popularity, selling over 500,000 units within three days, one million within a week, and 1.5 million by the end of the second week. By January 2023, sales had reached 3 million. Its engaging gameplay, which combines combat, exploration, and creative base-building, earned widespread praise from players and critics alike.
The full version of V Rising was released in March 2024 for PC, with a PlayStation 5 launch following in June.
Stunlock Studios shared the news of this sales milestone, as reported by Gematsu, and expressed their gratitude to the game’s community. CEO Rickard Frisegard highlighted the team’s dedication to delivering new experiences and assured players that fresh content is on the horizon.
Fans can look forward to a significant update in 2025, which the developers promise will “redefine the vampire experience.” The update will introduce exciting features such as:
- A new biome with a dangerous faction and ancient technology.
- An enhanced progression system, including stat caps and the Fusion Forge for crafting ultimate builds.
- PvP options, such as dueling and customizable castle arenas, offering new ways to compete without losing key progress.
Additionally, players will enjoy a new crafting station to extract stat bonuses from items, allowing for the creation of powerful endgame gear. The update will also expand the map, adding a northern Silverlight region filled with tougher enemies and challenging bosses.
V Rising continues to hold strong on Steam, with an 89% approval rating based on over 108,000 reviews and a peak player count of 132,000 in May 2024, as per SteamDB data. With approximately 7,000 players active today, the game remains a favorite for fans of vampire adventures.
