UFL, The New Football Rival to FIFA, Launches September 12 with Ronaldo’s Support

Ronaldo-Backed Football Simulation Game UFL

UFL, the next big football simulation video game, will go head-to-head with FIFA and eFootball as of September 12.

The game recently ended its beta testing which was a massive hit, with over 1.5 million downloads recorded during this period.

Since its first announcement at Gamescom 2021, Cyprus-based developer Strikerz Inc. has high hopes for the game to make it a strong competitor for FIFA and eFootball.

They formed partnerships with several clubs like FIFPro and football clubs like West Ham United, Borussia Mönchengladbach, AS Monaco, Celtic FC, and Rangers FC, so that its roster can feature over 5,000 real-life players beloved by fans.

This is why the game has attracted significant attention, with soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo himself investing heavily in a fundraising round that raised $40 million.

Firmino and De Bruyne have also signed on as ambassadors, highlighting the game’s promising future.

Fair Play at Its Core

One of UFL’s standout features is its commitment to a “fair-to-play” model. Unlike many other games, UFL is not going for pay-to-win mechanics. They ensure skill and strategy determine the win, not money. Eugene Nashilov, CEO of Strikerz Inc., emphasizes that this fair model is central to every development decision. As he puts it,

“A player’s success should not depend on the number of in-game purchases or the value of donations they make.”

Innovative Gameplay Mechanics

UFL leverages the power of Unreal Engine 5, known for its stunning visuals and seamless gameplay. Here’s what players can look forward to:

  • Realistic Physics and AI: The Unreal Engine ensures that UFL’s graphics, physics, and AI are top-notch. Player animations and movements look authentic.
  • Dynamic Weather Conditions: The game introduces realistic weather effects that impact gameplay.
  • Tactical Flexibility: Players can customize formations and strategies to match their play style.
  • Ultimate Team Mode: Similar to FIFA’s Ultimate Team mode, players can build their dream team with real-world players, but without microtransactions affecting performance.

Online and Offline Modes

  • Competitive Online Leagues: Compete in ranked online leagues, climbing the ranks based on skill and performance.
  • Offline Play: UFL supports offline matches against AI opponents, perfect for practice and casual play.
  • Friendly Matches: Whether online or offline, players can enjoy casual matches with friends, adding a social element to the game.

Cross-Platform Play

While not yet confirmed, there are rumors about potential cross-platform play, which would enable players on different consoles and PCs to compete against each other.

Regular Updates

Strikerz Inc. promises regular updates to keep the game aligned with real-world football events. This includes player statistics, game improvements, and community-driven features that keep gameplay fresh.

Esports Integration

UFL is set to make a strong entry into the esports scene, with plans for tournaments and competitions that could rival existing football esports leagues like eFootball and FIFAe.

Modding Support and Stadium Builder

UFL may offer support for community mods just like its competitors have, allowing players to create and share custom content, further enriching the gaming experience.

Additionally, a rumored stadium builder feature could enable players to design and personalize their stadiums, enhancing creativity within the game.

Aiming for 15 Million Players

Strikerz Inc. has set an ambitious target of reaching 15 million players within 12 months. While UFL will be free to play, it will incorporate a battle pass system and microtransactions.
